What's the most important ingredient to healthy living? Ask Karen Kansler, MA, RN, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital's wellness coordinator, and she'll tell you, "Having a willingness to learn and approach things from a new perspective - to see the brighter, funnier side of things - all these have positive health benefits. There are literally thousands of wonderful books, magazines, online publications - you name it - that offer great advice about living longer and feeling good."
Better Health by the Book is a bi-monthly book club led by Kansler that will explore a wide range of health and life-related topics for today's health-conscious, busy consumer. You'll get the best advice out there - everything from cutting-edge medical options to motivational advice. "Sharing what you've learned in a group setting allows you to make lifelong friends and share best tips for improving your life and your health," she says.

"The remarkable thing is that, every day, we have a choice to be happy or not, to be informed or not, to be healthier or not. It's up to us to make good choices."
