Cardiac Evaluation

Ask yourself these simple questions. Your answers will help determine if you need a cardiac evaluation.

  1. Are you bothered by intermittent episodes of chest heaviness or tightness?
  2. Do you feel that your exercise capacity has decreased and at times you feel short of breath without any clear-cut reason?
  3. Do you have intermittent palpitations or fluttering in your chest?
  4. Do you gasp for breath in the evening?
  5. Have you had swelling of your extremities associated with shortness of breath?
  6. Do you have a history of elevated cholesterol?
  7. Do you have a strong family history of coronary heart disease?
  8. Have you gained weight for more than two days straight, of two pounds or more?
  9. Are you a male beyond the age of 40? Are you a female beyond the age of 50?
  10. Do you have a history of hypertension or diabetes?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, you may suffer from heart disease and may wish to talk with your physician. Or, call the MedStar Good Samaritan Good Health Center at 443-444-4663.
