Coordinated Care

Coordinated CareSmooth Scheduling

When you and your doctor decide it's time for joint replacement surgery, your physician′s office will schedule your surgery and a follow-up visit, so it′s all taken care of for you.

JointExchange

When you call to schedule a pre-op class, you can request that a JointExchange volunteer, a former patient, calls you. This will give you the opportunity to talk one-on-one with someone who has had a joint replacement here and can answer your questions.

Customized Patient Guidebook

The customized patient guidebook is your complete reference book for JointEx. Bring it to your appointments, classes and the hospital to help you keep track of your progress.

Personal Coach

We know how important family and friends are to your recovery. That′s why we invite you to choose a coach, that is, a friend or family member to encourage and support you throughout your journey to a better you. If you don't have someone available, we will pair you up with one of our dedicated volunteers, many of whom have been through joint replacement surgery, too.

Pre-op Class

The better prepared you are, the faster you′ll heal - that's our philosophy. So, about two to four weeks before your surgery, you and your coach will attend a pre-op class, hosted by a registered nurse, to learn all about your surgery and the recovery process.

Pre-hab Therapy

At MedStar Good Samaritan, we believe in getting healthy even before your surgery. You and your coach will learn exercises to help prepare your body for surgery, and help speed your recovery.
