- Volume limited ventilators via cuffed tracheostomy, endotracheal or nasotracheal tube. Ventilator support is also provided by pressure or volume limited devices via full or nasal face mask (non-invasive ventilation). Patients requiring mechanical ventilation will be cared for in the ICU/CCU setting. Patients deemed stable and requiring long-term mechanical ventilation will be cared for on the 3E or 3W unit. Mechanical ventilation patients with rehabilitation goals will be cared for on 2E or 2W.

- Medium to high oxygen concentration masks
- Controlled oxygen concentration masks or tracheostomy attachments.
- Concentrations available: 24%, 28%, 31%, 35%, 40%

Orders for continuous pulse oximetry and static pulse oximetry (Q8x24 hrs. or QDayx72 hrs.) should be re-evaluated after 72 hours and reordered, if necessary.
All orders for therapy must be written for each mode or multiple modes of therapy. All orders should be re-evaluated after 72 hours and reordered if necessary. In most cases, orders for respiratory therapy will be automatically stopped after 72 hours.
Chest physiotherapy services are available and may be scheduled until 11pm. To avoid disturbing patients sleep, only very necessary cases will be scheduled from 11pm to 7am.
