Activities
The MedStar Good Samaritan Nursing Center features activities for residents of all ages. Activity calendars are posted throughout the center, so residents can choose what they enjoy. Food is served in all of our spacious dining rooms. Guests are welcome every day. Even pets are welcome to visit. What's more, family and friends may join residents at mealtime for a nominal fee. When a resident has a birthday or anniversary, our staff is happy to help coordinate a special celebration.
Activities are designed to improve and enhance each resident's quality of life while promoting self-esteem and morale. Activities are designed by our enthusiastic activities staff to encourage each resident to reach his/her highest practicable level of physical, mental and psychosocial functioning.
The activities department provides recreation treatment services, leisure education services and opportunities for participation in recreation. For less capable residents, we also provide a sensory stimulation program designed to exercise the resident's senses. These activities are a critical adjunct to nursing, medical and rehabilitative services in the total care of the resident.

Individual and group activities allow residents to realize their potential for utilizing their abilities and for meeting their individualized needs and goals. The uniqueness of each individual is respected, and their right to have input into the development of their recreation plan is recognized. The activity department team meets quarterly with our resident council to plan activities and discuss new ideas with the residents.
