Hospital officials opted to evacuate most patients today from the main building of MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital when smoke from a laundry room fire traveled through building ventilation and into hallways.
The fire was quickly extinguished and within 45 minutes of the 3 p.m. safety evacuation, patients were returned to their floors. At no time were any patients in danger.
Baltimore City Fire Department officials informed us that the air is clean, and that there is no carbon monoxide in the air.
