Francis J. Velez, MD, is chief of General and Endocrine Surgery at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital and is board certified in general surgery.
Dr. Velez is a graduate of Calvert Hall College and Loyola College. He earned his medical degree from U.A. Guadalajara. Dr. Velez completed his residency in general surgery at the Methodist Hospital in New York and also completed an approved fellowship in head and neck oncologic surgery at Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in New York City.
Dr. Velez is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Head and Neck Society and the Baltimore Academy of Surgery.
As a head and neck surgeon, Dr. Velez specializes in diseases that affect the thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, salivary glands, larynx, trachea and lymph nodes, including head and neck cancer. As a general surgeon, Dr. Velez specializes in hernia repair, as well as colon and gallbladder procedures. Dr. Velez incorporates the most up-to-date technology in treatment, with a primary focus on a patient's care and what is best for their long-term health.
