MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital has recognized how challenging it is for new graduates to integrate into a busy hospital environment. An On-Boarding nurse/Coach is now available. The On-Boarding nurse/Coach works with all new nurses to help them integrate into their new role. Within the first week of Nursing Orientation the On-Boarding nurse will meet all new graduates and nurses who have less than two years of experience. Coach's Circle is offered monthly for new nurses to allow them a time to share experiences, receive support and guidance and network with other new nurses.
All new graduates and new nurses are encouraged to attend. The On-Boarding nurse works closely with the new graduate, the preceptor and the Patient Care Manager to help the new employee feel comfortable and encouraged in their new role. The On-Boarding nurse will meet several times a month with each new employee to assess and assist in educational opportunities, answer questions, provide encouragement and help them grow professionally.
