Effie Boone, Teacher

We would like to celebrate Ms. Effie Boone as our teacher of the month for September 2018. She has been a teacher at the MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital Child Development Center (CDC) since the center opened 27 years ago. Over the years, she has created many wonderful relationships with the children, parents, and teachers who have been a part of the CDC. Ms. Effie takes great time to create an environment that allows her children to learn while playing and enjoying their environment. She encourages and supports their development while building their independence and empathy for others. She has a wonderful way of supporting her co-teachers and is always willing to lend a hand to those in need. We are blessed to have such a talented and passionate person as Ms. Effie with us here at the CDC.

We would like to share what some of our teachers and parents had to say about Ms. Effie:

  • Ms. Effie is strong but sweet, trustworthy, and very smart. She really cares about the children and has a passion for teaching. She is a wonderful friend.
  • Ms. Effie is an outstanding teacher. She is loving and patient with every child. Watching her with the children, it is apparent that she really loves what she does. She never runs out of ideas and activities to hold the children’s interest. It is a pleasure to work with Ms. Effie.
  • Ms. Effie is one of the best! She is the first to greet us with a warm smile every morning, and she gives me the assurance that my child is in great hands.
  • My daughters always loved running up to Ms. Effie in the morning and giving her a big hug, and getting to eat breakfast with her each morning.  She always had a smile when we arrived each morning and was excited to see the girls. I loved talking about recipes with her, especially about the candied pecans we both loved. She deserves to be honored—she’s an incredible teacher!
