Since its inception in 1973, the auxiliary has contributed nearly $4.5 million to the hospital for the purchase of medical equipment and services related to patient care. Just as the hospital has grown over time, so, too, has the auxiliary, which now boasts nearly 250 members - up significantly from its original roster of 14 members.
Good deeds make for better care
The auxiliary's yearly contribution to the hospital now averages more than $260,000 - a huge increase over its first donation (in 1974) of $4,323. As a result of its annual fund-raising activities, which include all proceeds from the Gift Shop, an annual fashion show, Lights of Love campaign and a variety of sales and boutiques, the auxiliary has purchased a wide range of medical equipment for the hospital. In recent years, a nurse-patient call system, a graphite operating table, a nuclear medicine gamma camera and a urology cystoscopy suite have all been purchased with funds donated by the auxiliary. In November 2006, the auxiliary made a $1 million pledge to the Legacy Campaign, which raised $20 million for the hospital.
The MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital Thrift Shop sells new and nearly new clothing and household items at extremely reasonable prices. All Thrift Shop proceeds are used to purchase medical and patient care equipment and services for the hospital.
Tuesday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Donations are gratefully accepted for men's, women's and children's clothing, household items and small furniture. Questions? Call the Thrift Shop at 443-444-5950.
MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital wants your help to celebrate our caregivers! We invite you to share a story of gratitude from a care experience and honor a member of your care team through a philanthropic investment.
From our hospital volunteers to non-clinical associates, leaders, nurses, physicians, and therapists, all of our care team provides an exceptional experience that changes lives.
As caregivers, we all have a shared purpose: to deliver the best care possible and understand the person behind the patient. Every day this goal is achieved by our compassionate team.
We celebrate the members of our care team each day, but especially recognize all caregivers on National Doctors’ Day, March 30, as well as, National Hospital Week and National Nurses Week, both celebrated May 6 through May 12.
Has anyone at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital made a positive difference in your life or the life of a loved one? If you are grateful for the care you experienced, we invite you to join the many others who show gratitude for their caregivers each year by sharing their stories and making philanthropic investments.
Thank you in advance for reciprocating the compassion you experienced from our dedicated care team.
